I just got to my apartment in Tokyo, after being trapped on the runway for 4 hours because my plane was broken. Yay.
Without any further ado, here are my photos from X Japan at Otakon. Please note that most of the press was requred to stay seated so I couldn’t move and change angles…

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to finish editing all my photos tonight. One of my suitcases busted and I had to repack half my stuff for my flight to Japan which is in…5 and a half hours. I hope I can get the rest up soon, I’ll finish editing on the plane. Here’s sample though!

No, no there weren’t 10,000 people there.
If there was half that many there I’d be surprised. Look at the picture Barks has of the crowd(link at the end). That’s not 10,000 people as Barks claims, you can’t see the people in the second level in the pic, but still. The 3rd deck wasn’t [...]
X Japan (Sugizo and Yoshiki) in Baltimore in brief.
Posted in America, X Japan, baltimore, concerts on Aug 1st, 2010
I’m going to post a longer write up with lots of photos about X Japan’s stop in Baltimore, but here is what you need to know from X Japan’s public appearance and the private press conference.
They played Forever Love first, then they MC’d in the middle. The audience was yelling a bunch of things [...]
Oh look here’s another write up about Lilac by me. This is the third time that I’ve written about them playing in less than a year. Though, probably the last since I’m wandering over to Tokyo for a while. Why do I like them? Aside from them being very good and electric on-stage they are [...]
J Summit in NYC pt. 3 (Hsu-Nami)
Posted in America, concert, new york city on Jun 10th, 2010
After Lilac and Typherus had played at J Summit, most of the Visual Kei/Jrock crowd that was there left and wandered over to the legendary punk and alternative street; St. Marks Place. It was just a few blocks away and since its been partially taken over by Japanese restaurants and stores it was as good [...]
The first Tokyo Fashion Festa in February was a huge success. Say what you will about the show favoring Sweet Lolita too much, but the place was packed and attracted media that normally is oblivious to the East Cost J-scene.
On June 6th Indivisual is bringing back Fashion Festa for two events during NYC’s “Japan [...]
Newcomer event organizers Zutto Entertainment have put together an event that might just be the event of the summer for the East Coast Jrock community even with the upcoming Miyavi tour. On June 13th Lilac, Kazha, [geist], Gelatine, and Typherus will come together for “Deatharmonic” at Crash Mansion in NYC.
Don’t let the name scare [...]
Of the bands that have come out of the East Coast with a Japanese influence, the one that I’m most excited about right now has to be Lilac. They haven’t been around that long, and they recently underwent a major lineup change(Gabriel recently joined on bass) , but it’s hard to deny that fact that [...]
I’ve had my doubts recently as to if there can ever be a real Japanese/ Japanese influenced scene on the east coast. Yes, there are the occasional big name Jrock/Vkei concerts here but can you really have a scene based on only a handful(on a good year) of concerts a year? That doesn’t sound like [...]
